Joe Krones
Joe Krones became the Music Director of West Towns Chorus in February, 2004. He has been involved in barbershop singing most of his life. His first introduction to barbershop singing was when his father took him to the Peoria Annual Show. He later became the Assistant Director of that chorus. Not long after that, he became the Director of that chorus and the youngest the Illinois District has ever seen. In 2000, Joe was the director of the West Peoria Chorus who won the Small Chorus Championship. Though he is noted as a “bass extraordinaire” he has sung various voice parts in a number of different quartets. His most notable quartet (thus far) was “Cheers!” which finished in sixth place in the 2003 International competition. He has recently joined a new quartet, Old School, which has him singing with 3 time gold medal lead, Joe Connelly, as well as International medallists Rick Taylor and Jack Pinto.
As a testament to his dedication, Joe drives from Peoria to direct West Towns Chorus every Monday night. Other than singing his life away, he is currently is employed by Subway. Joe has a musical family as well. His wife Jana and daughter Heather sing in the Heart of Illinois Chorus Sweet Adelines. He is most proud of his 14 year old son Chase, a member of the West Towns Chorus. It doesn’t stop there. His father also joined the chorus to make Three Generations. “I couldn’t do any of this without the support and love from my wonderful family; Jana, Heather and Chase. I Love You.”
